Is the righteousness spoken of (in this reference)the law likened to those things we could classify as works??Philippians 3:9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

Righteuosness is goodness. God is good there is no evil or darkness in Him. In the OT we were under the Law of Moses. In the NT we are under Grace-His unmerited favour. We become rightesuos as He is righteuos thruogh our relationship with Him which we recieve at conversion/salvation.He makes us righteuos. I think its saying not our own righteusness but His.Through the gift of salvation. The law can bring death. He wants us free. What is works? Works can be working for the poor, the sick, helping in 3rd world countries, running the church tape library, cleaning the church building, youth work, sunday school, pot luck dinners, organising conferences, anything that relates to church life that involves skills/the practical stuff. Driving the elderlies to outings.etc Acts of kindness. All these things do not make a man rightous. Jesus does.
Ken this scripture made me think. I think that is what it means.
