Of course I got it the day it was released because that's the kind of Eagles fan that I am. And it rocks! This is all new material. No remixed best hits or anything. It is a double CD album. Some of the material in it is as good as any of the Eagles old hits. The theme is a political message that speaks against the state of the union, but that doesn't mean there aren't some great tunes without Don Henley's liberal rasp grating on the nerves. Glen Frey and Joe Walsh knock out some great vocals and the classic Eagles harmony shows up throughout the album.

Second on that Brick! I got it too the day it came out! Picked up on the political message too but it makes a person think! I love the vocals in it too and I catch myself listening for the next song to be one of the old classics to come on. "How Long" is my favorite so far-TURN IT UP! Wild Rose

Picked up on the political message too but it makes a person think! You are right. They are pretty well balanced in their criticism of the system. I just think that Don Henley may be reading a bit too much of the "Dirty Laundry" that he sang about in one of his earliest solo efforts. Remember that one? My favorites are You Are Not Alone (CD1) and Last Good Time In Town (CD2). Did you know that on this day in 1979 the Eagles performed live at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh, NC?

I admit to the fact that I have not yet paid a lot of attention to The Eagles - though I understand they have a pretty strong fan base.

Probably not a big thing when you were growing up. Their last studio album release was '79 or '80 until this one came out. Their music often addressed social issues, although their hits were love songs and such. One of my favorites is The Girl from Providence on their Hotel California album.

You're right - they weren't active with regard to new albums during my teen years. I have heard a couple of their songs and like them okay (don't recall ever hearing the song you mentioned, though). When I was a young thing, I was more of an A-Ha girl. Actually, I still am ~ imo, they're just getting better with age. I'm glad they got back together.

Get the heck out! I thought they were a one hit wonder! I love the song "Take on me"! It is a great song for running or spinning.

Well, I do agree that Take On Me is an awesome song - and in many respects they sort of were a one hit wonder. But even after that particular tune, they still had moderate success with other songs/albums. They split up for awhile then got back together around 2000, and are more popular in Europe/other areas than in the U.S. But they still have a pretty loyal fan base. I like a lot of their newer songs better than their music from the 80s. Especially the stuff from their Minor Earth Major Sky and Lifelines albums.

Liked em' didn't like em' wondered if they sold out sure they did Liked em' again
Eagles have gone through many changes along the way. I liked them early on, but later they became a DISCO act, then I didn't like them, Then they became just TOO COUNTRY, and I didn't like them some more, but now they're coming back fresh with new material, I like them again and will excuse the whiney country inflections, ha!
